From “Dark Matter”, “The Midnight Library”, “The Collected Regrets of Clover”, and my life as Head of Product, I’ve learned one thing: write down the why — or relive the what-ifs.
Isn’t it frustrating when you forget something personal, wish you had an AI to remember it for you, and then instantly regret it, because relying on AI makes everything feel a bit too artificial and impersonal?
Uri! You’re so right about how frustrating it is to forget your own past. I can’t believe how little I remember of 2016, when I first read “Dark Matter.” I do wish some robot could tell me!
But wow, you made me realize something! If people start typing into GPT instead of their notes app, they might not have a first-person record of their life and decisions … Even if you told GPT everything about your life and later asked it about your past self, it could rewrite your words — and your life.
GPT needs to stay a thinking partner, a way to get information faster. But it can’t become the only way we write about ourselves … We need to own our final decisions and log them.
"We need to own our final decisions and log them", I agree and, at the same time, think the line will be blurred in the (not so dystopic anymore) near future where implants will house these logs. My point is that we will solve this issue by removing options instead of making a decision to go one way or the other.
Also, I found out this week's mood and... is not chill & fun apparently 🤷
